Procedure for Programming the Alacrity Desktop Scanner

This procedure will program the Alacrity Desktop scanner

  1. Plug the Alacrity scanner into the USB port it will always remain connected to.
  2. Scan these barcodes in the following order:

  1. USB COM - used to configure it as a serial COM port(recommended)

  2. The scanner will beep to alert when the scanned code has been successfully accepted.

    Add Device to Insight Access:

    • Select SETTINGS, from Insight Access menu bar
      • Then, ACCESS CONTROLLERS
    • Click ADD DEVICE (lower left side)
    • Choose SERIAL READER
    • Now, TEST
      • Scan a couple of keys
    • Click SAVE
    • Lastly, CLOSE

📝 Important note: Disconnecting the scanner from the USB port it has been configured to work with may require steps 1-4 to be taken again.
