How to Send a Group Message

Just like sending a message to an individual member, you can also send a message to a group of members at one time. This article will walk you through sending a group message step-by-step.

Group messaging is available through our feature called Bulk Actions. Bulk Actions are a powerful feature that let you perform an action against all items found on a report. Depending on what type of item the report is based on (such as accounts/members/classes/credentials/etc), different Bulk Actions will be available to you. For accounts and members, Send Group Message is one of the actions you can use.

So, to begin, you'll want to find a find a report that is best suited for the set of members you want to send a message to. For this example, let's just choose the Member Report. From this report, you can update the filters on the top to narrow down the list of members to exactly what you want.

Once you're happy with the list (be sure to check all pages of the report), you can select Send Group Message from the Bulk Actions button at the bottom of the report.

After choosing this option, you will be able to enter the message you would like to send. You can also make the message a high-priority message, make your location the sender (instead of your own name), and even add template variables to the message. After creating your message, click Send.

At this point, you'll see a progress box show in the bottom-right-hand corner of your screen. The system is preparing all of your accounts/members messages to be sent. If necessary, you can cancel this before the send is complete. Once all the preparations are ready, you can click Run Now to send all of the messages, or click X to cancel the send.
