Gift Certificate Sales and Transactions
How to sell Gift Certificates on Gym Insight
Businesses often sell gift certificates. They are a great way to attract new customers, and can also be used as incentives for your current customers.
How to apply Gift Certificate to a non-member's account:
First, create a Gift Certificate as an item in your settings. See this article for how to do that. You will add a default $ value when creating this item and change that value upon sale depending on how much they wish to gift.
You will charge the amount to the Gifter's account (if there is one) and make a note in the description about who that Gift Certificate is for.
You can then give the customer your own premade, personalized Gift Certificate, or simply have the recipient come in and let you know the name of the giver. You will have proof of this sale on the current member's account in the account statement. Then you will create the recipient's account as usual and add a note about the gift certificate from the existing member.
If the Giver is also not a member, you can create a Gift Card account to use in these situations.
Start by creating a new Guest account with the first name as "Gift Card" and the last name as "Gift Card".
Then you can add the sale to this account detailing in the description, who purchased it and who it is for. Then again to redeem it, simply create the recipient's account and make note of the gift certificate. Keep this Gift Certificate account in order to track all gift certificate sales from non-member purchases.
If the recipient is a member, you can add the gift certificate as a credit on their account.
Charge the sale to the Gifter's account or to the Gift Card guest account. Then go to the recipient's account and click Update Balance. Decrease the amount this account owes. Enter the amount of the Gift Certificate and add any details you would like in the description.
