Scanner Installation Guidelines

The Digital Keytag scanner comes pre-installed in an aluminum enclosure to aid in scanner weather and tampering protection in addition to providing a cleaner look to the final installation.

Step 1 – Unboxing the scanner

When you receive the scanner most of the components will be tucked inside the enclosure. The back panel slides out for easy wiring and installation. Start by separating the enclosure shell by sliding the back panel out.

Step 2 – Mount the back panel

With the enclosure separated, you will notice pre-drilled screw holes to aid in easily attaching the scanner. Utilize the screw holes to attach the scanner to the wall or door frame. We recommend sealing any unused holes with 100% silicone adhesive to further aid in keeping precipitation out of the enclosure.

Step 3 – Attach the enclosure cover

After the back panel (with scanner) has been mounted and the cable routed, re-attach the enclosure cover by sliding it all the way onto the back panel.

Step 4 – Insert screws

After the enclosure cover is fully in place, insert the two remaining screws, which will lock the back panel in place and secure the cover. Consider adding a dab of 100% silicone adhesive before inserting the screws and on top of the screw heads after they are seated to aid in sealing the enclosure from the elements and tampering.

Final Considerations

We highly recommend sealing around the top, sides, and screw heads of the enclosure with 100% silicone adhesive to prevent precipitation from entering the enclosure or running behind the enclosure (between the enclosure and the wall or door frame that it is mounted to). Applying a bead of silicone around the top and back of the enclosure will also aid in preventing tampering.
