Easily Handle Chargeback or Delete a Transaction

When a credit card transaction is charged back or when an ACH transaction has been returned, you can easily update the original transaction to reflect the fact that it was not successful. Marking the transaction as failed is important to keep your reports and accounting accurate.

Start by viewing the account responsible for the chargeback, or return and locate the specific transaction that was affected. Click on the Amount in the transaction row:

From the “Edit Transaction Success” pop-up window, select ‘No’ from the dropdown list and click save.

The transaction will now be highlighted in red, indicating that the transaction failed. At this point you’ll likely want to change the transaction description to reflect the return. Change the transaction’s description by clicking on it in the transaction row:

Alter the description of the transaction to indicate that it was returned – consider including the reason the transaction failed in the new description:

Finally, you’ll notice that all changes to a transaction are logged to the account notes so that there is a permanent record of the change, the date of the change, and the name of the person who made the change
